The Apple Watch represents a new paradigm for smart devices. It is at once more intimate and less intrusive. Farhad Manjoo relates his experiences in Dear Diary: My Week Wearing an Apple Watch. This is consistent with my own experience wearing the far less functional FitBit Surge smart watch. I get texts and previews of phone calls on my wrist, along with constant reminders of my own physical activity. The Surge is much less functional than the Apple Watch, but I can see the unique advantages of wearables over smartphones: close integration with the minute-to-minute life of the wearer.
How will wearables change the world of enterprise architecture? What industries will adopt them first? How will they change existing systems and processes and the jobs of those who guide their evolution? Post your comment now.
